NOTES
2). Martha Breedlove said that Mary was married several times, Johnson, Emerson, James, Bowling. Her children were Alice, Mae, Ellis, Hope, Annie, Edgar, Evie, James, all born in Hartshorne, Ok. Vera Gibson of Oklahoma wrote me a couple of letters, in one she told me about Mary. She ran off and married her first husband, Johnson, who was a full blood indian, at the age of 15. She found out he had killed his first wife, so she got word to her parents. John and the twins went after her and brought her home. She married Emerson James June 1882 in the Old Court house in McAlester, Oklahoma. He was Choctaw and was ther father of her children. They all got land through him. Emerson was killed in1895. He was a U.S. Marshell and he had a large farm near Sulpher Cemetery. Most of the Breedloves lived in that area. Mary married a man named Bowling in 1899. He finally left and went to his son in Texas.
