1). Listed as Harris , on 1870 census, age 30 He is listed in 1910 census age 64 yrs. born in SC. Both parents also born in SC. having had 11 children and 10 living at time of1910census. On March 20, 1862 , at the age of 17, he enlisted as a PrivateinCompany F of Orr s Regiment, South Carolina Rifles for a period of threeyears or the war. His bounty was paid by Lt. G.W. Fullerton, Recruiting Officer and the enlistment papers were signed by E.P. Verner, N.P. He served with the regiment on active duty until June 14 1863 at which time he was admitted to the General Hospital, Howard s Grove, Richmond, Virginia suffering from dysentery. He was furloughed for thirty days on August 26, 1983. The Company Muster Roll indicated that he remained absent from active duty due to illness until January or February of 1864. He was wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania CourthouseinVirginia on May 12, 1964 and was captured by the enemy. A mini ball enteredone shoulder and exited the other. He was admitted to Emory U.S.A. General Hospital, Washington,D.C. on May 22, 1864 from the Field of Battle. On June 4, 1864 he was transferred to Lincoln U.S.A. General Hospital in Washington, D.C. On September 24, 1864 he was transferred to the U.S.A. Hospital Steamer, Connecticut sailing for New York. During the period April thru December of 1864 he remained on the Muster Roll of Orr s regiment and was listed as Absent, Prisonerinhand of enemy since 12 May 1864 and last paid by the Hospital Howard s Grove, Richmond, Virginia on June 30 1863. On October 27, 1864 he was received at Elmira, NY fromWashington, D.C. and was then transferred for exchange on February 20, 1865. On March 15, 1865 he was again listed at Howard s GroveHospitalin Richmond, Virginia. On March 15 1865 his name appears on the Hospital Muster Roll of Paroled prisoners, in 4th division, Jackson Hospital, at Richmond, Virginia. On March 17 1865 he was granted a 30 day furlough. After the war he returned to the Retreat Community where he lived until his death at the age of 70. His wife lived on their farm for another 23 years before her death. Harbin, CSA died 13 April, 1911, sonof, William Harbin, and member of Chauga Baptist Chruch and lived in the Retreat Community, Seneca, SC.vit of Col. JamesBlair latea Senatorfor the adjoining County of Habersham and also annexes aList of LightHorsemen who were under his Command in the War, also his Ensigns Commission and a Captains Commission dated inJanuary1782 for a Captain of a foot Company which was athome and notinService. He further states that both the Ensigns andCaptainsCommissions annexed were for Foot Companies, While theCommission hehas lost and the service he performed was in a HorseCompany. Sworn to and subscribed before me this 11th day of September 1833 Christopher ADDISON J.P. State of Georgia, Franklin County Personally appeared before the undersigned Acting Justice ofthePeace in and for said County Col. James Blair of Habersham Countyinthe state aforesaid. Who being Duly Sworn deposith and saith Thathehas been well aquainted with the aforesaid Moses Guest for aboutSixtyyears. That deponent knew said Guest in the Revolutionary Waratseveral different periods of the War, when he was always acting asaCaptain of Horse and was obeyed and respected as such. Deponentsawsaid Guess presiding as Captain upon Courts Martial amd CourtsofEnquiry both before and after the Battle of Kings Mountain inwhichbattle deponent was and he saw Guess Commanding his HorseCompany.Deponent further saith upon looking over the annexed List ofCapt.Guests Troops at Kings Mountain, that heknew all the men namedin thefirst column of said List, except John Snowdy and that theywereserving at the battle under Guess.
