1). Downing.ged One child of this marrige, wife died shortly after it s birth. See notes for wife Elizabeth. The marriage of John R. Thomas and Elizabeth Downing was the first to take plac in the Downingtown Friends Meeting House.

Downing.ged  CHESTER & DELAWARE FEDERALIST, Chester co., November 7, 1810   Death Notice DIED, on the 18th day of October last, near Downingtown, Chester county, Elizabeth Thomas, wife of John Thomas, and daughter of Richard Downing, Esq., of Downingtown.  she has left a tender husband, and an only child, too young to know its loss, and an extensive circle of friends and acquaintences to bewail their irreparable loss.
