NOTES
1). 18401.ged Hugh and Mary Pugh had 12 children, names unk. except for Dinah Pugh. Downing.ged Hugh and Mary Pugh had 12 children, names unk. except for Dinah Pugh. From correspondent Sandra Ferguson In 1715, a Jonathan Hayes, of Chester county, was murdered by Hugh Pugh, millwright, and Lazaras Thomas, Laborer, also of Chester. They were immediatel apprehended and committed to the county jail. They were not tried, however, until near the beginningof the year 1718, when the Supreme court was so constituted to hold a trial. They were found guilty and sentenced to be executed. There was an appeal, but the execution was carried out May 9., 1718. Since the Hugh Pugh shown here had a daughter in 1734, it leads me to believe that the notorious Hugh was Hugh Pugh s father.
