NOTES
1). In July of 1869, Captain McFall, who migrated to the new village PIckens from Anderson County, deeded his one half interest in Lot No. 51 to Captain Thornley. The deed stated that Thornley lived on the lot, which fronted Pendleton Street and the western side of the public Square, whereon a store is now occupied by McFall and Thornley. Apparently business was flourishing. By late summer the partners would move into a new, two story mercantile establishment, with attached dwellings at the rear for McFall, on their adjoining lot no. 27 at the corner of Main and Pendleton, just west of the courthouse. 2). Charter member of the Pickens Presbyterian Church. Julius E. Boggs boarded in 1879 at the residence of Mrs. James M. McFall, who still lived in the dwelling at the rear of W.T. McFall s store Lot No. 27, Pickens . Source Pickens The Town and the First Baptist Church by Jane Buroughs Morris, 1991
