1). Elias Prioleau succeeded his father as pastor at Pons, Fra nce, which he left with much of his congregation when the c hurch was destroyed on 15 April, 1686. After making their w ay to England, they emigrated to Carolina , settled on th e Black River, andElias Prioleau became pastor of the firs t Huguenot church in Charleston.
