PETER FAYSSOUX was taken prisoner in Charleston 12 May, 1 780 was a first lieutenant in the South Carolina Regimen t on 13 July, 1781 and served as Chief Physician and Surge on of Hospital, Southern Department from 15 May, 1781 unti l he close of the war. He was founder and first president o f the Medical Society of South Carolina 1788 1793? . On 2 9 January 1772, Fayssoux married Sarah Wilson, daughter o f Algernon Wilson of St. Paul Parish. At least one daughte r d. 1797 was born to their marriage before Sarah Faysso ux died in August 1776. His second wife, whom he wed in Mar ch 1777, was Ann Smith, daughter of William Smith d.1782? and widow of William Johnston. Six children from this mar riage survived their parents James Hunter, Martha Ferguso n m Dr. Peter Foissin , Ann Rag m. Bernard Elliott Bee , Helen Perry, Peter Simons, and Sarah Johnston m.
