She was twenty y ea rs old Gilber t , a native of Cutchogue, was twenty fi ve . At so me point , E lizabeth and Gilbert apparently co nve rted to M ethodism . Tw in boys were born to Elizabet h an d Gilbert o n Novembe r 27 , 1811, of whom one, Isaa c Golds mith, died , while th e othe r Gilbert Davis Goldsm ith, sur vived. Les s than a mo nth aft er the birth of th e twins, o n Decembe r 24, 1811, Gi lbert Sr . was sailin g in the Ne w York harbo r when his boa t capsize d during a storm, an d he was drown ed. Brack enb ury , b y John Corrill, received a patri archal blessing f r o m Jose ph SmithSr. on 11 Jan, 1840 at t he home of Jab ez D urfee i n Nauvoo, and was endowed 1 Octob er, 1843. More 11. Elizabeth Davis Goldsmith Brackenbury Durfee S m i th Lott , 1791 1876, married Joseph polyandrously bef o r e June 1842, approximately at age fifty or fifty one. S h e h ad martied her first husband, Gilbert Goldsmith, on A pr il 1 3, 1811he died on December 24, 1811, leaving he r wit h on e son. She then married Joseph Brackenbury betwe en 181 5 an d 1819. They converted to Mormonism and had fiv e sons , bu t he died in December 1831 while serving a miss ion. Sh e mar ried Jabez Durfee inMissouri in 1834 and sta yed wit h him u ntil 1844 or 1845. After Joseph Smith s dea th, sh e marrie d Cornelius Lott for time on January 22, 18 45, bu t the marr iage was short lived. The rest of her lif e she s pent with h er Brackenbury sons in Utah,Missouri , Colorado , California , and Kansas.
