1). He was a private in the War of 1812 in Captain Jabesh Cas t l e s Company, 198th New York Regiment, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Clar k e . He later resided in Pompey, New York, before settling in Rochester, New Yo r k , in 1817, where he purchased alot in town. Here he was joined by his fa t h er and several brothers. He was a carpenter and an early member of th e R o chester Fire Brigade in 1819.
