NOTES
2). A dowry of 200 pounds was paid to John Bolling for his marriage to Mary Polly Jefferson. The six foot, large John Bolling was not particularily interested in the local girls until he met and married Mary. John, while living at Fairfield , was at one time the Sheriff of Goochland County, Virginia and also served in the House of Burgesses from that county. He later moved over to Chesterfield County, Virginia. Mary Polly probably attended the one room school house for a time, with her famous brother, Thomas Jefferson, located at Tuckahoe an H shaped home still standing on River Road west of Richmond and open to tourists .
