2). bobspu.ged REF 1. Margarett STICHLER STEININGER, 8950 S 1175E Culver, IN 46511 2. Wilma MOW FOLTZ, 1049 E 450 N, Rochester, IN 46975 desc. of Adam and Harriet MOW. 3. Byron GILCHRIST, dec d, cousin to Margarett STICHLER STEININGER. 4. Claudia GILCHRISTDEEN, 4790 Union Chapel Rd., Corydon, IN 47112 second cousin to Margarett and sister of compiler. 5. U.S. Census 1920 IN Fulton Co. Richland Twp. E.D. 71 Sheet 1 4 4. MF T625 433. BIO Margarett has remained in contact with compiler and her siblings in the years since their parents died. She maintains her lake front residence in Culver, IN. Jan. 1996 Periodically Margarett has visited her granddaughter in Morganton, NC and planshave been made for her to visit compiler during her next trip. Something always seems to change those plans. For example, Margarett and her granddaughter had scheduled a visit in 1993 while compiler was living in Pisgah Forest, NC. The weekend they had chosen, Western North Carolina experienced one of its rare winter blizzards. All transportation plans for five days were brought to a stop. Margarett returned to Marshall County, IN without contact with compiler. Margarett has been most helpful in answering questions about her family and her MOW ancestors and or asking other sources for help if she can not answer herself. She has generously supplied old photos of the children of Adam and Harriet MOW s children, including her own mother as well as compiler s grandmother. She has been an appreciative supporter of compiler s efforts to bring together a history of the MOW, BEEHLER and GILCHRIST families. Her letters have not only been a great source of information but also a vote of confidence in the research effort. Per the 1920 census, Margarett was seven months of age when the enumeration was conducted, 02 January 1920. 10 January 1998, after the funeral service for Byron GILCHRIST in Indianapolis, IN, Byron s daughters arranged a family gathering in the club house of the apartments where Janet GILCHRIST FROST was living. At that gathering, compiler was able to visit with and interview Margarett and her brother, Theodore STICHLER. One of the family stories shared by Margarett concerned ThomasGILCHRIST, compiler s great grandfather. Your grandparents had a high backed wicker chair in the front yard. Your great grandfather Thomas would sit in that chair with all the children around him on the ground and he would tell wonderful stories. I used to love to sit and listen to him tell of the past and the old days. That is where I first learned of slavery, the injustices to the slaves and the Civil War... On 30 January 1998, Margaret wrote a letter to compiler and enclosed additional data on herfamily and on her grandparents. In that letter, she also enclosed a photocopy of her Cradle Roll certificate from the old Whippoorwill Grandview Evangelical Church. This certificate was signed by Wm. GILCHRIST, Supt. Compiler s grandfather was Sunday School Superintendent at that church for many years. Source Elizabeth Ann Gilchrist Jun 1998
