NOTES
1). bobspu.ged BIO This first son of Alexander and Elizabeth PARK was baptized On Monday of Sacrament November 9th 1840...by Rev McLane of princeton... Ref 1 Records of the Carmel Church This couple was married and resided for several years in Jeff erson County, IN, Hanover Township. Sometime between the census enumeration of 1870 and 1910, they relocated to Vermilion County, IL, near Hoopeston. At least two of William s siblings also moved to the Hoopeston area Elizabeth , William s sister, and her husband Thomas J. HANNA are both buried in the Floral Hills Cemetery. Another sister, Jane PARK, was apparently blind and never married. Her grave is also in Floral Hills. Her tombstone inscription was copied by Park W. CARTER, and contains the information thatJane was born 3 Feb. 1844 and died on Christmas Day, 1915. Park reports that she was known by family in the area as Blind Jane and Aunt Blind Jane. William J. and Jane PARK had two children listed on the 1870 Census in Jefferson County Joseph was 3 years of age, and Nettie was two. Ms. McGREW, however, sent Park CARTER the list of their children as follows Joseph, Fred, Ralph, Anna, Mary and Salome. No dates of birth were included in her letter. It is not known if Nettie who appeared on the 1870 Census died young, or why her name did not appear on Ms. McGREW s data. REFERENECS 1. Records of the Carmel Congregation of the Assoc. Presb. 2). bobspu.ged BIO The maiden name of William J. PARK s wife is uncertain. Some sources record her maiden name as BEARD, others as BAIRD. Jane may have been the daughter of William BAIRD who appeared on the 1860 census for Jefferson Co., IN, in Hanover Twp. The number of the dwelling for the BAIRD household was within 7 households of William PARK s grandfather s household, and on the same page of the census enumeration dated 20 June 1860. William BAIRD s age, as of 1860, was given as 47, his place of birth as Pennsylvania. The oldest female in his household is listed as Jane her age is given as 16, and her birthplace also as PA. The next person listed in the household is 14 year old Samuel M., who s birthplace is given as OHIO, as are the four younger members of the household Elizabeth 12 James 10 Sarah 7 Wm. A. 6 . On the 1870 Census, however, Jane PARK s age is given as 25, and her place of birth as Ohio. This could have been enumerator error. Per Ms. McGREW, Jane s maiden name was BEARD perMr.SAGE, marriage records show her name as BAIRD. The 1870 Census lists two children in William J. and Jane PARK s household. These were Joseph age 3 and Nettie 2 ,both born in INDIANA. According to MS. McGREW s letter to Mr. CARTER in 1973, the couple ...had several children... She lists Joseph, Fred, Ralph, Anna Mary and Salome, but gives no ages or birthdates. REFERENCES 1. Park W.
