NOTES
1). bobspu.ged BIO The PARK Genealogy gives the following information about Thomas A. PARK He was born in northern IN, near LaPorte, and later went to IL with his parents. Toward the end of the Civil War, while still only a boy, Tom joined the Union Army and became part of the foraging unit of his company. He contracted typhoid fever and was left in the open country in TX, where he was found by Indians and nursed back to health. At the end of the war, he became a sheep rancher near Mason, TX. Park W. CARTER writes, I was never able to get any more info on the C.W. part of his history. He s not listed among the IL veterans. He may not have actually joined, or it may be a legend . Here Mason, TX he met Louise Barbara MUELLER. Louise was from Dubuque, IOWA. Her parents were German Swiss and had immigrated to the U.S. from Zurich, SWITZERLAND in about 1850. Tom and Louise were married in 1880 at Mason, and all of their children were born at the ranch there. About 1893 they gave up their ranch and Tom drove a wagon to Hartshorne, OK, to claim land in the new OK Territory. Louise and the 3 children later followed by train...to become pioneer settlers.
