1). The following profile for Mr. & Mrs. Clare W. Wilco x i s f r o m Portage Heritage, 1957 Clare W. Wilcox was born on a farm in Streetsboro, F e b . 2 8 , 1910. He was the son of William W. and Maude Ma r i e Wilc ox . His education was received in the local sch oo l s with g rad uation from Streetsboro high school in Ju ne , 1 928. He t he nfollowed farming, including stock rai sin g, f or twent y yea rs, selling his products mainly i n th e Akro n area. On May 26, 1928, he married Ida Marie Thomas of Streets b o r o , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Osman Thomas. They wer e ma rr i e d at the M.E.parsonage in Mentor by Rev. Mr. B ower s , a f or mer Streetsboro pastor. To them five childr en ha v e bee n bor n Claire Elaine, Nov. 4, 1936 Gwendol yn Ire ne , Oct . 6, 19 41 Treva Marie, Oct. 19, 1942 Syl via Pat ric ia, Se pt. 17 , 1949 Shirley Ardell, Sept. 17 , 1949. In 1946 Mr. Wilcox purchased the old Bentley farm o f 2 1 2 a c res and in the following year started dairyin g wit h a ppro xi mately 50 head of cattle, and marketing m ilk ma inl y in A kro n. This was continued until August,1 951, wh en h is bar n an d all contents were completely des troyed b y fir e. Thi s forc ed the sale of the dairy. In t he same y ear h e entere d the e mploye of the Morse Instru ment Co. a t Huds on wher e he is st ill employed. Mrs. Wilcox has also been active in farm work in addi t i o n t o her household duties, helping out in the dair y . S h e i s a member of the Streetsboro Methodist churc h an d i s a ctiv e in circle work.
