1). The following is from a Dent Co, MO newspaper obituary, shortly after the death of Asa Hardison Bain on 9 Oct 1899 b An Old Citizen Dead b Asa H. Bain died at his home in current township about one o clock last Monday morning of pneumonia fever, after an illness of only 5 days duration. Mr. Bain was born in Maury County, Tennessee August 1, 1841, and came to Dent County with his parents at an early age. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in July, 1861, in Company D 10th Missouri Infantry and was paroled in June, 1865. He was in the noted battles in Springfield, MO., Prairie Grove, and Helena, Arkansas. He was twice wounded at Helena. On the 7th of Oct, 1875 he was married to Miss Mary M. Craig, daughter of Judge James E. and Edith Craig of current township. He was always a Democrat in politics and took an active interest in public affairs. He will be missed in this County as well as in the Community where he lived so long. Mrs. Bain and five children are left to mourn with his many friends.
