2). royalty.ged !In 1553, 15 year old Lady Jane Grey was deposed as Queen of England after claiming the crown for nine days. King Henry VIII s daughter Mary was proclaimed queen. Reign 10 19 Jul 1553. The nine days queen. Jane was reluctant to accept the crown forced upon her by her ambitious father in law, but was publicly proclaimed queen with much pomp after Edward VI s death had been made public on 10 Jul 1553. She and herhusband were innocent victims of the overwhelming ambition of their parents and it was only with reluctance and after much heart searchiang that Mary I agreed to their execution.
