1). bobspu.ged BIO In January, 1998, compiler received a welcomed response to her letter to Patricia D. O DELL VORHIS, requesting additional data on her immediate family. DeeDee went beyond the call to include biographical comments on several people, not only inher immediate family, but also concerning her parents, her sister, Colleen, etc. From this source, compiler was able to give specific data about James VORHIS, DeeDee s husband. Included in her data re the couple s marriage, DeeDee added, Met July 1949on blind date. Obviously, this blind date was a success since they have been together dating and married nearly 50 years! DeeDee goes on to summarize their life together After 1 year of Jim s military service in KOREA, Jim and Pat set up housekeeping in Riverside, California where Jim was stationed with the United States Air Force. After his discharge in 1956, they moved to Bowling Green, Ohio where Jim attended Bowling Green State University and where our first daughter, Felicia Ann, was born. After graduation in 1959, the family moved to Van Wert, Ohio in order for Jim to start his career in the insurance industry with Central Mutual Insurance Company and where our second daughter, Diane Marie, was born. In 1963 the family moved to Irving, Texas. ...Following Alna s death, Pat worked as a receptionist for a Physical Therapy Clinic. Jim resigned his position with an insurance company they were at this time living in Southlake, TX and took college classes to become a certified marketing teacher.In 1992 Jim and Pat moved to East TEXAS where Jim taught as a high school marketing teacher DeKalb High School for 5 1 2 years. Pat worked during this time as a dental assistant in DeKalb. Jim and Pat both retired at the end of 1997 and are planning to move back to the Dallas Ft. Worth area. In her letter to compiler, DeeDee wrote that they were waiting to sell their house in New Boston, Texas, and then planned to move to Denton to be closer to their children. DeeDee s sister, Colleen, who is in poor health is planning to move to Denton, also. 13 Jan. 1998 REF 1. O DELL, brother, 5308 E. 2nd St., Tucson, AZ 85711 letter to compiler, 13 Nov. 1997. 4. Patricia D. O DELL VORHIS, 501 Ratcliff Dr., New Boston, TX 75570 2218. Letter to compiler, 13 Jan. 1998 BIO Compiler remembers early stories of the twin girls born to Sam and Billie in 1932 just a few months before the birth of compiler s brother, Jim . The girls were named Patricia Dee and Felicia Lee. Felicia died young perhaps at birth compiler doesnot know the details of the death . There was no mention of DeeDee s twin in the O DELL family tree, but it is noted that she named her first daughter Felicia . In response to a request for further data on the family of Samuel H. and Alna Billie WILLIAMS O DELL, John W. O DELL, a brother to Patricia D., wrote that Patricia s twin was buried in North Manchester, IN. Quoting from his letter, Pat s twin sister lived only 2 to 3 months and is interred in North Manchester, Indiana, so the 1933 date is correct... John gave Pat s address, as of Nov. 1997, as New Boston, TX. Compiler wrote to Pat, asking for updated information on herself, her husband and her children. Within two weeks after mailing this letter, compiler received a response from DeeDee , containing not only specific data concerning key events in her family s lives, but also several pages of biographical information. She also included a copy of a letter written to authorities at the Statue of Liberty Memorial, concerning the birth of Pat s mother and her twin, Alma, at Ellis Island. The letter was written by Ruth WILLIAMS ALEXANDER, another sister of Alna WILLIAMS O DELL. Concerning herself, Pat wrote After 1 year of Jim s military service in KOREA, Jim and Pat set up housekeeping in riverside, CALIFORNIA where Jim was stationed with the United States Air Force...in 1956, they moved to Bowling Green, OHIO...where our first daughter, Felicia Ann was born...1959, the family moved to Van Wert, OHIO...where our second daughter, Diane Marie, was born. In 1963 the family moved to Irving, TEXAS. ...October 1963, Alna O DELL, Pat s mother, came to live with the family. In 1964 Glen Samuel was born and in 1965 Cheryl Lee was born. After 16 years in Irving, ... the family made a move tothe rural community of Southlake, TEXAS... Following Alna s death, Pat worked as a receptionist for a Physical Therapy Clinic... In 1992 Jim and Pat moved to East Texas ...Pat worked during this time as a dental assistant in DeKalb. Jim and Pat both retired at the end of 1997 and are planning to move back to the Dallas Ft.
